José’s volleyball career went from 1996 to 2016 in standing volleyball and sitting volleyball, with a silver Paralympic medal in 2000. His experience as Chair and member of boards in sports related and non-sports related organizations is vast. Overall José has occupied the Chair position of 4 different organizations for 12 years and he’s a been member of many different boards in the last 25 years. He also has been the Canadian men’s volleyball athlete’s representative in the last 4 years of his career.
José has been a General Manager in sports and leisure for the last 20 years. He currently manages a sports and community centre in Montréal (ASCCS) of 100 000 sq feet with 100 employees and 200 volunteers, 11 Sports Clubs and more than 200 different activities to the general public. The organization’s main objectives are to offer activities to underprivileged kids and people living with disabilities.
José was elected to the World ParaVolley Athletes’ Commission in January 2019. He was then selected from within the seven-member Athletes’ Commission to be Chair of the Commission and to sit on the World ParaVolley Board of Directors.
