Today in Warendorf – Final Day!

Today was the final day of matches at the 2015 ParaVolley Europe Men’s Sitting Volleyball Championships, and what an eventful day it was!

Bosnia & Herzegovina emerged as the gold medal winners, defeating Germany in the final match by a score of 3:0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-23).  However, as reported yesterday, BIH had already qualified for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games at the 2014 World Championships, so Germany, by simply being in the final against BIH earned the one Rio 2016 qualification spot available at the European Championships!

The bronze medal match proved to be the match of the day, with Ukraine putting up a great fight against Russia, but falling just short.  Russia won the match in five sets to take home the bronze medal!

Heartfelt congratulations must go to:

  • Bosnia & Herzegovina for winning the GOLD MEDAL
  • Germany for winning the SILVER and qualifying for Rio2016
  • Russia for winning the BRONZE

And of course, ParaVolley Europe and NPC Germany for putting on an AMAZING competition!  Thank you, and well-done!
