Iran extend unbeaten streak to five with win over Japan

Bangkok, Thailand, June 13, 2019 – Iran extended their unbeaten run with a straight-set (25-14, 25-11, 25-9) win over Japan in the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships at the Huamark Indoor Stadium on Thursday.

Iran’s quickness on defence enabled them to execute a good counter-attack system, with Majid Lashkarisanami giving his side some firepower to build a 16-8 lead at the second technical timeout. Japan nicked only six markers after that and conceded the opening set at 25-14.

Japan’s weak passing allowed the Iranians to make some easy put-backs, giving the latter an 8-6 lead in the second set. As the Japanese continued to struggle on defence, the Iranian hitters exploited it by firing strong spikes from all angles. Iran easily took the set at 25-11 with well-organised offence and defence.

Iran employed the same intensity as they did in the first two sets to play in the third period with an overwhelming 18-4 lead. The Iranian frontline was relentless on the attack that allowed them to eventually end set and match at 25-9.
