China advance to men’s final with sweep of Japan

Bangkok, Thailand, June 14, 2019 – China swept Japan in their men’s tournament encounter on Thursday to advance to the final round of the 2019 ParaVolley Asia Oceania Sitting Volleyball Championships at Huamark Indoor Stadium.

China recorded their fifth win in the tournament, following their 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-20) win over East Asian neighbours Japan.

The Chinese team dominated with a huge margin 25-8 in the opening set, as they put pressure on their rivals’ defence with their powerful spikes. Japan somehow managed to recover in the second set with better passing to get their attacks breach the Chinese block, but the latter also accomplished a good run down the final stretch of the second set to claim another win at 25-19.

Japan’s excellent efforts on defence were rewarded as the team took the lead 9-7 at the start of the third set. With better execution of their plays, Japan extended their lead further 18-14. Then China regained their composure and levelled the score at 18-all. The Chinese grabbed the lead as Japan committed costly attack errors that started the Chinese run. China completed the sweep of Japan at 25-20.
